The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

This alternative rock band The Temper Trap from Australia hit everywhere but the US by storm. Maybe it’s because they were already big in London and Melbourne before their debut album Conditions came out in 2009. One thing that’s going to help this band’s songs get more ear play is that they’re touring the US right now, check out their concert dates on their MySpace music page.
If you’ve already heard this song of theirs before, then please check out their other single Love Lost which is super fun and contagious the more you listen to it. Particularly the music video for it, which reminds me of running in gym class in elementary school, except it feels more like the singing and dancing of The Sound of Music meets the evil school teachers from Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It does make you want to add it to your running playlist still, except it’ll be hard to get the pyrotechnics coordinated to the song while you’re out running through your neighborhood, but you can pretend.
As for the song in this post, Sweet Disposition, I find it inspiring. The music video cheers us on like a cheerleader tunnel before a football game, shouting for us to pick ourselves up after we’ve fallen, to stand up and keep fighting. To not give up and to follow our dreams. Or at least that’s what I thought until I read the lyrics which give me more of the impression that it’s about not giving up on love when everything seems to be trying to stop you from being together. Like a Romeo and Juliet story. Either way, the song’s still an inspiring success. And so is their other song, Love Lost. I just love bands that inspire us and lift our minds up out of the negative thoughts that cloud our vision, helping us see the path to the place our hearts already know is attainable.
