Pretty Lights – Drift Away – Glowing In The Darkest Night EP
More songs that I like from Pretty Lights:
Out Of Time
Finally Moving
Stay
Happy Thanksgiving! I can thank my sister Linnea for introducing me to this super groovy band. She heard about them because they are from Boulder Colorado, which is close to where she went to school. Although now she’s graduated and going to school in Pennsylvania.
Oh-tay!

Thumbs up! I quite like this one. The splices almost kill the groove but don’t quite and make the groove more intense as a result, if you can buy that.
I totally buy that! The splices make the sound pop and to me are as natural a sound as hitting the sostenuto (sustain) pedal on the piano, except it’s interrupting the sound. And in addition to the accentuation of the sound itself, the absence of sound can be a type of sound or note in its own right.
I’m a big fan of progressions in sound in a macro scale that allow the song to jump from a lull to a high. The lulls in a song don’t have such a powerful effect to me. I love the effect these produce. And when they are used right, it can be a powerful and beautiful thing.
