Boy and Bear – Fall At Your Feet (Crowded House cover)
I believe I have my friend Tyler at Tyler Management in LA to thank for bringing this genuine sounding and good natured band to my ears. Boy and Bear make good contemporary and mainstream use of the banjo giving the instrument a respect outside of its folk porch roots. It reminds me of the Grapes of Wrath and songs of the old south, but with modern hooks and lyrics.
Mumford and Sons – Little Lion Man

I’ve had this song on a playlist of mine for a while but can’t remember where I got it from. Maybe it was from a Grey’s Anatomy soundtrack I got from somebody. Either way, I remember liking this song but having no idea who sang it. Only today did I realize that all of their songs are good. This is a band I would buy the album from. Their songs are very genuine, about love and life mostly, about the bigger more beautiful things in life. Their fresh new debut album Sigh No More released in the US in February this year and was released late last year in the UK. It has since reached the #1 position in Australia and has already gone double platinum there, the Aussies just eat these guys up. But in the US it also reached #8 on the best album’s of the year list for NPR’s All Songs Considered. So if you like this song, I’d recommend checking out their whole album, I think you’ll be happy you did.
